Veterans Day

Imagine being in the army for five years and the only thing you got out of it was free clothes and food. When you get back you are still recovering from some wounds and still getting used to normal life. Nobody thanks for what you have done or honors you. I think the best time to honor the people who went through this is everyday and especially on holidays. If it weren’t for our veterans, we might be in WWIII.

We should honor our veterans everyday because when they go into battle, it’s like going into a torture chamber. I can’t even begin to imagine what it would be like going into battle to keep us safe and free. A few of my family members served and I’m sure they have some bad stories to share. Ask some of the people who have served. Because of what they have gone through, honoring them should be no problem.

Veterans Day is an especially good time to honor veterans because Veterans Day is the day the . People around the world honor their veterans on this day. An armistice, or temporary cessation of hostilities, between the Allied nations and Germany went into effect on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month. For this reason, November 11, 1918, is generally known as the end of “the war to end all wars.” This is why Veterans Day is on the 11th day of the 11th month.

When people put their lives on the line for the freedom and safety of others, I think they deserve to be honored for it. It takes commitment, trust, courage, smarts, strength, months of training, mental and physical toughness, and skill to be able to serve for your country.

Few brave people grow up wanting to be in the military or army. Most want to be a chef or an architect. Because of this, we should help those brave few follow their dreams.
